Protecting the Consumer and Servicing
the Trade with Independence and Integrity

Have you visited Assay Office Birmingham's recently launched online Archive Collection yet?

The Heritage Lottery Fund grant enabled Assay Office Birmingham to transfer its paper records onto an electronic catalogue and photograph its wonderful silver collection, thus allowing members of the public an opportunity to view and search through the Library catalogue online. Silverware, coins and Assay Office Birmingham's library collection are all now available on the website.

Why not visit our Assay Archive section https://theassayoffice.co.uk/heritage-hub/assay-achives  and then go to SEARCH CATALOGUE

You can now also listen to interviews from current and former employees providing a fascinating insight into what life is/was like at a business that was founded in 1773 and has been located in the Jewellery Quarter since 1877.

The Oral History Archive provides an insight into the part the Assay Office has played in the Jewellery Quarter and how hallmarking remains vital to the assurance of quality that has characterised the Birmingham jewellery and metal trades for many years.
