Protecting the Consumer and Servicing
the Trade with Independence and Integrity

Michael Allchin, Chief Executive and Assay Master at The Birmingham Assay Office gave a wonderful keynote presentation at the Annual General Meeting of the British Allied Trades Federation which took place at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham.
Michael enchanted his audience as he reflected on the 125 year history of one of the founding trade associations that make up the BATF - The British Jewellers' Association, which started life as the Birmingham Jewellers and Silversmiths Association.

Although many events and changes have taken place in the jewellery industry over this last 1 1/4 centuries it seems that in the final analysis    "This is like deja vu all over again" (Yogi Berra.)
