The last two Understanding Hallmarking: Behind the Scenes at The Birmingham Assay Office training courses have completely sold out. The course is aimed at anyone who would like to know more about the history of Hallmarking, current legislation and identifying jewellery and precious metals using Hallmarks. The half-day course includes a visit to the Hallmarking floor, and the chance to have a go at Hallmarking. Many delegates have commented that this is their favourite part of the course! Sally Hoban, Heritage and Training Officer, says: ‘Understanding Hallmarking is a comprehensive course that appeals to members of the trade, jewellery retail staff, collectors, antique dealers and museum professionals. We have also welcomed people onto this course who have received their places as gifts from their families. ’ The next course dates are 11th Sept – Limited availability, 15th Oct and 13th Nov.
